PFCU is a full service financial institution with offices located in Morton Grove, Kenilworth, Des Plaines, and Barrington, Illinois and we are currently seeking an energetic and passionate Business Development Director.
Position Purpose
The Business Development Director is primarily responsible for new member acquisition and growth, enhancing community and Select Employee (SEG) relationships for Partnership Financial Credit Union (PFCU). The Business Development Director will foster and develop strong, sustainable relationships within the communities and SEG's we serve while enhancing the credit union's viability and brand awareness. The BD Director will lead the development and execution of strategic activities to forge new relationships to increase membership and influence growth among organizations and communities.
The Business Development Director must be professional, sales and goal-orientated and prepared to take ownership of PFCU's overall business development goals. The BD Director works closely with the management team and collaborates with Marketing to develop a strategic business plan and targeted sales initiatives. Leads, directs and partners with office managers and staff to enhance efforts by creating and implementing sales action plans to insure growth goals are meet.
The successful candidate will have previous sales /BD and extensive knowledge of financial service products in a credit union or banking environment. Excellent communication skills are required.
The Business Development Director works under minimal supervision exercising independent judgement. Must be action, goal and service-orientated, sales and resultsdriven, self-motivated while being highly functional and ethical. This position requires the effective decision making skills and must be member and solution-focused, detail orientated, and organized. The candidate will be analytical in nature and have demonstrated use of good judgement, innovative thinking and problem solver. This position requires flexibility to travel throughout our Chicago based market and work extended hours which may include evening and weekend hours.
Essential Skills, Knowledge and Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in business or related field, or equivalent job-related experience providing the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the responsibilities of the role.
- Minimum 3 years' experience in sales/business development or training.
- Experience in developing, deploying and managing market campaigns, a plus.
- Strong knowledge of solution-based sales techniques in a financial environment a plus. Credit Union/Banking experience preferred.
- Ability to acquire an in-depth understanding of Credit Union products and services; recommend new products and services to management. Ability to balance strategic vision with near-term opportunities.
- The ability to maintain the highest level of integrity and trustworthiness at all times.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access required.
- Travel among the areas we serve (Chicagoland and Suburbs) and must be flexible regarding work schedule including evenings and weekends. A valid driver's License and auto insurance required.
- Execute strategies and actions that will increase membership and overall growth including cross-sell within the communities and SEGs we serve.
- Create campaigns and events to support new membership growth and penetration goals; ensuring business development efforts are coordinated across appropriate branches, markets, SEGs and communities.
- Supports the organizational goals and objectives; coordinates business development plans with the marketing department and branch team.
- Develops tracking, analyzes and communicates departmental reporting, business development activities and results for management review; develops and tracks annual development plan and budget to support organizational goals.
- In coordination with marketing, manages the correspondence and direct marketing programs to potential and existing members, organizations and community outreach.
- Identifies, organizes and represents PFCU in various civic, community and SEG events to continually enhance brand image and exposure while seeking additional business opportunities; identifies and organizes opportunities for participation in community and SEG publications, newsletters etc.
- Provides sales and cross-selling training to staff in regards to PFCU's products and services.
Additional Information and Requirements
The Business Development Director performs a major portion of his/her duties through verbal and written communications. It is critical that s/he possess the ability to communicate with clarity, while understanding and explaining complex situations to team members and outside contacts. Accuracy is essential and s/he must possess the ability to proof read documentation and correspondence to insure free of errors and fraud. The person will spend a good portion of the day seated at a workstation, but may also be mobile throughout the credit union for purposes of meetings, working with others, etc. S/he must have the ability to lift, move or transport working material and collateral.
