Business Development Manager - North Jersey Friendship House

PRIMARY FUNCTION: In collaboration with the Executive Director of Operations, coordinate the promotion, sales and supervision of business objectives and services consistent with the North Jersey Friendship House, Inc. (NJFH) mission. Assist in the responsibility for profitability, overall operational performance, budgeting, scheduling, reporting, establishing long-range strategy and working collaboratively with all sectors, i.e.: non-profits, government, foundations, private companies, and the community.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Foster established relationships with various companies within the Food Service, Janitorial Services, Packaging and Assembly (Workshop), Graphics/Ad specialties
- Cultivate new business relationships and serve as the liaison between clients and the internal team.
- Develop and follow up on new leads and referrals resulting from cold calling, tradeshows, internet searches, networking, and any other source of referrals.
- Identify new markets and sales prospects
- Manage all customer-related activities, including order maintenance, confirmations, along with conflict resolutions
- Prepare presentations, proposals, and sales contracts across all business areas
- Maintain samples, presentation materials, marketing materials and information on product knowledge
- Manage and execute sales and merchandising strategies meeting both short and long-term goals
- Assist in the development of new accounts, for each business unit
- Ensure service delivery meets contract specifications
- Submit and maintain billing information on all accounts
- Communicate to management any obstacles, such as pricing, modifications, etc., and progress and provide all necessary information so informed decisions and recommendations can be made
- Responsible for the logistics of all outside products
- Attend appropriate state and federal meetings, training sessions, conferences (i.e., Source America, ACSESS NJ) and other related opportunities, as directed
- Carry out special assignments as requested by the Executive Director of Operations and/or Chief Executive Officer
Key performance indicators: (Food Service, Janitorial Services, FH Graphics, Workshop, and new Initiatives)
- Overall revenue growth in business services department
- Retention and further development of present accounts
- Ability to communicate clearly in writing, interpret and make decisions within the organization's laws and regulations
- Demonstrate leadership, supervision, and evaluation skills in addition to honesty and patience and sensitivity to NJFH's member's needs
- At the request of the Executive Director of Operations, participation in various meetings
Qualifications / Specific Requirements Include:
- Bachelor's Degree in business management/administration or related field
- Three (3) to Five (5) years' experience in sales and/or operations management in the fields of: Ad Specialties, Production, Embroidery, Janitorial, or Catering Industries highly preferred
- Strong business development skills with the ability to develop and implement sales strategies.
- Experience with pricing, public and private bids, contracting and quoting preferred
- Action-oriented, entrepreneurial, flexible, and innovative approach to business development a must
- Passion, humility, integrity, positive attitude, mission-driven and self-directed
Certificates/Licenses/Special Training:
- Valid Driver's License in Good Standing
Physical Demands:
- Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds
- As directed - may be required to adjust shift accordingly
