About the Job
Privately held company that provides engineered wear solutions for heavy industrial applications is seeking a Business Development Manager to discover new customers, uncover new markets and grow existing customer base.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage prescribed territory and achieve annual quota
- Prospecting, vetting and generating new business opportunities by seeking out key players and decision makers
- Attend meetings with existing customers and prospects to meet revenue goals
- Build relationships with customers in territory
- Timely completion and updating of sales records including customers, contacts, call reports, quotations, proposals and territory plans
- Gain perspective on competition and gather competitive intelligence
- Attend trade association meeting and exhibitions
- Seek referrals from current customers as a means of building the pipeline
- Prepare and present territory/account status at sales meetings
- Participate in technical training sessions conducted by the company which may include traveling with other Sales, Engineering or Production personnel
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or business administration
- Five (5) years sales experience with industrial or manufacturing companies, technical background preferred
Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong desire to achieve success in sales and willingness to accept the responsibilities associated with the position
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
- Excellent negotiation and time management skills
- Ability and desire to prospect and make cold calls
- Ability to grasp arithmetic and geometric concepts, obtain and communicate application information and perform fundamental measuring techniques
- Ability to work autonomously and be a self-starter
- Proficient in Excel, Word or Equivalent
- Knowledge of CRM and ERP systems, preferably Epicor
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
- Professional office setting and regular exposure to heavy industrial environments
- Use of personal protective equipment
- Minor lifting
- Working at various heights, able to climb ladders, stairs, scaffolding, etc.
- Working outdoors and being subjected to various weather conditions
Equipment/Tools/Software Used:
- Laptop or desktop computer, printer, copier, calculator, telephone
- Microsoft Office Suite
- Epicor CRM/ERP software
- Tape measure, ruler, sketching tools and other measuring equipment
Travel Requirements:
- Travel as required or as allowed by customers to grow territory
Expected Hours of Work:
- Normal operating hours are 8:00am - 5:00pm Monday through Friday
- Periodic evening or weekend work may be required
Term of Employment: Full Time
