Job Summary:
The Business Development Associate will report directly to the VP, Corporate Development & Head of Strategy. The successful candidate will be essential in assisting the Corp Dev and Business Development functions at the company, including strategic partnerships, indication planning & market assessments, investor relations, and competitive intelligence. The job will require collaboration with cross functional partners across both the business and research functions at the company. Given the highly technical nature of our work, this individual will be expected to understand with some depth how the platform works and our emerging data sets, in service of incorporating these developments into our ongoing strategy. This role has a hybrid work schedule of three days on-site at our office in South San Francisco, and two days working remotely.
The successful candidate will have a strong grasp of basic science and an eagerness to learn. This role, beyond what is explicitly stated above, is intended to be fluid, self-starters will find an environment that is open and accepting of specific interests and potential growth areas. For those that are interested in a career in healthcare finance will also find ample opportunity to develop the skillsets necessary for a finance role or other business role.
Responsibilities
Strategic Planning and Research:
- Identify and evaluate market trends, competitive dynamics, and emerging opportunities in regards to SonoThera’s current and planned indications
- Conduct detailed research to support strategic decision-making processes. Collaborate with senior management to develop corporate strategies and roadmaps for growth
- Monitor competitive landscape for ongoing developments from existing competitors and new potential entrants for SonoThera’s indications and gene therapy as a whole
- Develop and maintain relationships with key opinion leaders
- Engage in financial modeling for market forecasting
Investor Relations:
- Assist with fundraising process and material / data room preparation for investor engagement
- Assist with investor inquiries through familiarity with SonoThera’s technology and experimental results
- Act as the project manager by monitoring and maintaining oversight of the progress and status of ongoing discussions.
Partnering:
- Help to identify outside opportunities that may fulfill specific needs or provide synergy to SonoThera’s technology
- Assist with contracting, negotiations, and relationship management for various vendors and partners
Qualifications:
- PhD in Biology, Chemistry, and other life science related field
- Ideally 1+ years in a professional setting such as consulting or prior corporate development role
- Energetic, result-driven, and a self-starter
- Hybrid, on-site three days a week in our South San Francisco office
Technical Requirements and Skills
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively create and deliver presentations to internal stakeholders
- Ability to interpret and compare large amounts of pre-clinical and clinical data
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and meet tight deadlines
- Motivation and curiosity to learn
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams

Compensation: The salary range for this position is $135,000.00 to $162,000.00 USD annually. This salary range is an estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on various factors, including, without limitation, individual education, experience, tenure, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data, including potential adjustments for geographic location.
