Role Overview
The Business Development Assistant is an integral member of the Business Development team, supporting growth initiatives and ensuring operational efficiency at Gill Logistics. This is a multi-faceted position that combines client-facing responsibilities with a balance of administrative expertise, strategic insight, and strong interpersonal skills to ensure seamless collaboration and effective client engagement. Reporting to the VP of Account Management & Business Development, the Business Development Assistant collaborates with internal teams to align operations with business goals and contribute to the company’s continued success.
Key Responsibilities
- Client Engagement: Schedule and coordinate meetings with current and prospective clients.
- Client Visits and Travel: Dedicate approximately 50% of your time to visiting clients, ensuring satisfaction with scheduled routes and identifying new growth opportunities.
- Administrative Support: Draft professional documents, implement new client contracts, and collaborate with Area Managers to ensure coverage.
- System Management: Maintain accurate client data using CRM tools (i.e. Salesforce) and address complaints with timely resolutions.
- Market Research: Analyze trends and report actionable insights to leadership.
- Collaboration: Partner with the Operations Team to resolve client concerns and assist with annual financial forecasting and budgeting.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- General understanding of CRM tools.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- 1-2 years of experience in sales support, account management, or business development.
- Knowledge of logistics and/or healthcare industries.
- Experience in market research and data analysis.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- A proactive and adaptable mindset.
Physical Requirements
This role involves extended periods of desk work, computer usage, and phone calls. Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds may be required.
