Job Title: Business Data Governance Analyst (Functional) - Contract - Job#5377

Worksite: Chicago, IL Onsite Mandatory 3 Days/week

As a Business Data Governance Analyst, you will bridge the gap between technical and business teams, driving data governance initiatives and ensuring seamless collaboration across stakeholders. Key Responsibilities:

• Requirements Gathering: Collaborate with business and technical SMEs to gather requirements for capturing metadata and data lineage.
• Data Stewardship: Lead Data Domain and Data Steward Workgroup meetings to identify Critical Data Elements (CDEs) and define business glossary terms.
• Business Rule Development: Partner with Data Domain Owners to identify, define, and document business rules.
• Metadata Collaboration: Work with metadata specialists to identify data sources and ensure metadata alignment with business needs.
• Data Quality Analysis: Utilize data profiling and quality tools to identify and resolve data quality issues during the definition of business rules.
• Metadata Management: Leverage tools like IBM Metadata Asset Manager and IBM Information Governance Catalog to build and maintain the business glossary.
• Governance Implementation: Develop and enforce data governance controls, procedures, and standards to maintain data integrity and compliance.
• Stakeholder Communication: Create and deliver presentations for department leaders and senior management, ensuring clear communication of governance initiatives.
• Project Support: Contribute to project execution from initial requirements through implementation, ensuring alignment with data governance standards.

Qualifications:

• Technical Proficiency:
• Expertise in SQL and data governance tools (e.g., Informatica, IBM ISEE, Collibra).
• Familiarity with APIs, Kafka, and a range of databases (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, DB2, Amazon Redshift).
• Proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, etc.).
• Strong data analysis capabilities.
• Experience & Education:
• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Data Analytics, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Proven experience in data governance, metadata management, and business glossary development.
• Soft Skills:
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal abilities and collaboration skills.
• Detail-oriented, highly motivated, and a proactive problem-solver.
• Ability to multitask, manage aggressive deadlines, and thrive in dynamic environments.
• Project management experience is a plus.
