About the Job
The Emma Eccles Jones College of Education and Human Services business services team is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team. Providing financial services support the Business Assistant II contributes to the success of the Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP), a federally funded program that was designed to help students prepare for and succeed in college. The Business Assistant II provides transactional support and processing in compliance with associated policies, procedures, and expectations under limited supervision/guidance.
The position requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to balance multiple projects and deadlines, and the desire and capacity to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a productive team.

Responsibilities:Provide Financial Services
- Acts as resource to school partners in invoice processing and match fulfillment.
- Trains new partners to ensure understanding of grant regulations and budget processes
- Processes monthly invoices
- Leads school partner development of annual expense and match budgets
- Interprets/explains USU policies, Federal policies, and STARS! GEAR UP guidelines to school district staff, site managers, and other engaged constituents in a clear and understandable manner
- Develops and prepares reports as needed
- Coordinates with Project Director and Business Manager for the smooth operation of the program and administrative support staff
- Ensures all business procedures are consistent with grant and university policies.
- Reviews and analyzes all transactions, including cost share reports, to ensure that they meet the terms of the grant. Develops and submits timely entries to remove transactions from grant indexes or cost share reports in accordance with policies and procedures
- Collects, reviews, and evaluates cost share project operations and transactions ensuring compliance with applicable regulations. Proposes changes as needed to meet program goals
- Coordinates with department Business Manager on financial summaries and status of grant and match indexes
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- 4 years of directly-related financial or research administration work experience with increasing responsibilities or bachelor’s degree in business administration, Management, or Finance/Business related area; or an equivalent combination of related education plus directly-related experience is required
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in managing multiple responsibilities and deadlines
- Experience in grant/research management
- Working knowledge of Banner finance modules
- Knowledge of USU financial policies
- Knowledge of Uniform Guidance

Advertised Salary:Minimum $36,123; Commensurate with experience, plus excellent benefits ADA:Employees work indoors and are protected from weather and/or contaminants, but not, necessarily, occasional temperature changes. The employee is regularly required to sit and often uses repetitive hand motions.
