WHAT YOULL BE DOING
The Business Analyst is responsible for collecting critical data and information from various outlets, including, but not limited to, sales figures, market research, logistics, and transportation costs. The Business Analyst also creates metrics to help executive management make business decisions. This position will manage one or more projects with varying levels of risk, size, importance, and complexity. Identify, assess, and manage risks and issues to the success of the project. Produce all project documentation, including project scopes, estimates, timelines, resource plans, and status reports. Ensure that project deliverables are demonstrably fit for purpose. Support ongoing company projects/processes for various departments as needed.
Requirements
ESSENTIAL FUNCTION
- Maintain a professional demeanor at all times through written, verbal, and personal communications/presentation.
- Interpret data and analyze results using statistical techniques and provide ongoing reports.
- Develop and implement data collection systems and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and data quality.
- Acquire data from primary or secondary data sources and maintain databases/systems.
- Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets.
- Filter and clean data, and review computer reports, printouts, and performance indicators to locate and correct code problems.
- Maintain confidence by keeping information confidential.
- Perform other functions and responsibilities as assigned.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Bachelors degree is required. A BA/BS in Math, Statistics, Economics, Information Management or Computer Science is preferred.
- Two or more years of relevant work experience. Experience in the oilfield services industry is preferred.
- Advanced level of computer literacy as well as the Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel is required. Intermediate knowledge of Fishbowl and QuickBooks is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of and experience with reporting packages (e.g., Business Objects), databases (e.g., SQL), programming (i.e., XML, JavaScript, ETL Frameworks, etc.).
- Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analyzing large datasets (e.g., Excel, SPSS, SAS).
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Adept at queries, report writing, and presenting findings, building dashboards
- Intermediate-to-advanced understanding of project management skills.
- Ability to read, write, and speak the English language fluently.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to liaise professionally with team members, system users, and customers,
- Ability to perform assigned tasks with minimum supervision.
- Advanced communication skills, both verbal and written, especially in business writing.
- Ability to prioritize workload but be flexible to adjust to changing deadlines.
- Ability to approach problems with a certain degree of creativity and latitude.
- Possess excellent organization and time-management skills.
- Flexibility to adjust to work routines, as required, to meet the needs of the company.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and components, up to 25 pounds
- Operate basic office equipment
- Sit for long periods of time, up to 8-10 hours a day
- Walk/travel to production areas while wearing Personal Protection Equipment (PPE), which at a minimum includes safety glasses, steel toe shoes and a hardhat
