A growing retail company in Glen Rock, NJ wants to hire a Business Analyst for their team.
The Business Analyst will facilitate assigned projects by serving as a liaison between business and technology through the analysis of performance drivers. The candidate would desire to be part of a high performing team environment, consistently challenging the status quo and driving improvements
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Gather business requirements and/or write user stories for solution development.
- Identify any root cause issues of any problems in data/ways of working.
- Identify trends in business performance that provide valuable insights to the operations team to drive improved business performance.
- Support monthly operations commentary on performance that accompanies the senior leadership reporting.
- Drive the change agenda across operations to provide solutions for business problems through continuous improvement initiatives.
- Conduct weekly reviews of key store performance metrics, providing valuable reporting to the relevant team members and pushing for improvements through revenue and volumes across the three core pillars of fuel, food, and store.
- Provide labor actuals vs. budget and forecasting.
- Identify unusual variances through inventory management at the stores.
- Ensure invoice entry timeliness at the stores and completeness of goods receiving.
- Lead/support targeted projects to deliver better store performance through more accurate data and information: price book accuracy, rebate management, store register simplification, bolt-on offers profitability assessment to simplify offers across the network.
- Analyze financial data to understand key business performance drivers and support the resolution of identified issues through continuous improvement initiatives.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with the operations and finance teams, representing a true business partner proactively driving the performance of the stores/region.
- Assist in the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances.
- Perform additional duties as necessary, including ad hoc project work.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- At least 3-5 years of related experience.
- An associate or bachelor's degree, or applicable work experience can be substituted for a degree.
- Demonstrated experience with Excel for tracking data
- Experience creating workflow diagrams in Visio or similar tool
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience maintaining professionalism under pressure.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
- Excellent drive, enthusiasm, and commitment, with a keen interest in developing a career within the organization
- A "can do" attitude and a positive, solution-focused mindset.
- Highly organized, with the ability to plan and organize own workload effectively for maximum impact, and flexible and adaptable around changing business needs.
- Retail experience is a huge plus!
