Responsibilities
P&C Actuarial & UW Modeling (PCM) is seeking associates who are passionate about the company’s future and State Farm continuing to be the industry leader.
As a member of PCM’s Program Support & Implementation Team (PSI) you will be challenged and empowered to grow personally and professionally.You will work on a small-empowered team that has considerable organizational reach and impact. You will work with multiple business and technical areas and at multiple levels within the enterprise.The work you do will have a direct impact on building out our future rating platforms and processes and in developing new technologies for the future within Modernization.PCM is at the forefront of developing new technology, products and services for the enterprise.

As a Business Analyst you will:
- Plan, organize, coordinate, and manage work and resources within assigned area of responsibility to meet division, department and enterprise goals.
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with business and technical stakeholders.
- Communicate P&C business recommendations and results through summaries, reports, and/or presentations.
- Develop and apply an understanding of State Farm’s structure, systems, products, services, and processes.
- Manage initiatives or projects requiring technical or specialized knowledge of processes and systems.
- Act as a liaison/coordinator between P&C Underwriting (PCU) and P&C Actuarial & UW Modeling (PCM), or as a liaison for contacts outside of the department.
- Participate in a variety of activities to implement solutions that meet State Farm’s needs.
Items of Note:
- Job may require incumbent to travel overnight via commercial transportation or driving motor vehicles or both, to attend training programs and to visit field locations.
- Handles sensitive trade secret information and maintains confidentiality.
- May work irregular hours.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and abilities:
- Working knowledge of Personal Lines Auto in order to provide subject matter expertise from a business perspective about Business Lines Auto practices and processes.
- 10 years of experience within the P&C Insurance Industry
- P&C product knowledge preferred
- Experience working on Systems projects and/or with P&C insurance departments
- Strong collaboration and influence skills and abilities in order to drive pace with product managers, analysts, and stakeholders
- Work independently to resolve complex issues with minimal supervision.
- Adaptability and learning agility in shifting to new work types and responsibilities to meet evolving business needs
- Analyze business needs by gathering information and conducting research
- Scope and document work needed to solve the business problem
- Develop business cases in collaboration with project managers, analysts, and other stakeholders
- Gather and document business requirements
- Identify, document, track, monitor and resolve gaps, impacts, issues and/or risks associated with implementation
- Ensure solutions meet business requirements e.g.:
- Develop business acceptance testing (BAT) strategies,
- Participate in test case execution including production checkout,
- Assist with defect analysis and management (documentation and verifying resolution).
