About the Job
The Fleet Accounting Systems Consultant plays a technical key role in our efforts to provide decision support in selecting, optimizing, prioritizing, and executing Fleet Finance, Treasury and Fleet General Accounting projects, managing the deployment of services, and evaluating/monitoring operational and financial benefits as they relate to the Finance organization. This position takes charge of specialized Fleet Finance, Treasury and Fleet General Accounting projects, working closely with Shipboard Finance shore (FGA) and ship (FF) and Treasury department to enhance Integrations between the systems. It involves supporting strategic and tactical initiatives, collaborating closely with Fleet Finance and the Financial Analytics team to formulate key strategic initiatives based on thorough analysis and comprehensive review of existing processes. Additionally, the role entails ensuring the successful delivery of projects in terms of functionality, quality, system performance, Quality Assurance, and technical documentation. Working in tandem with Operations and various teams, including IT, Finance, Hotel Operations, Guest Service Operations, Security Services, Guest Tech Operations among others, this role ensures alignment with corporate objectives and process standardization. The position also involves overseeing other resources involved in projects as necessary and actively seeking opportunities to collaborate with business units on significant strategic initiatives. This technical expert collaborates with GFIT, IT, Decision Support, business users, and other departments as required to facilitate the development and implementation of new business practices, with a primary focus on process enhancement, business process re-engineering, and managing Shipboard and Shoreside communication from Accounting systems perspective.
Supporting Actions:
Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of projects. Ensure that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget. Developing project scopes and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders ensuring technical feasibility. Ensure resource availability and allocation. Develop a detailed project plan to track progress. Use appropriate verification techniques to manage changes in project scope, schedule, and costs. Measure project performance using appropriate systems, tools, and techniques. Report and escalate to management as needed. Manage the relationship with the client and all stakeholders. Perform risk management to minimize project risks. Establish and maintain relationships with third parties/vendors. Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation. Meets financial objectives by forecasting requirements; preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions. Enhances department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
Identify best, efficient, and cost beneficial technical solutions when business processes are being implemented and require input or output from critical systems supporting Fleet Accounting Systems operations. Provide insights on the current functionality of the applications that are used by the department as well as possible enhancements to these systems, assessing adoption integrated fleet management software that combines finance, operations, and reporting functionalities, deploy advanced cash management systems to optimize liquidity and manage cash flows effectively, identifying integrated banking platforms that connect directly with treasury systems, investigate if we can upgrade or implement automated general ledger systems that capture and categorize fleet-related transactions accurately.
Serve as subject matter expert (SME) for project business requirements; develop business cases. Participate in meetings to understand business requirements to enhance systems. Help with project estimating. Perform and/or oversee all testing activities related to financial software used in the department to ensure new system functionality works as defined and system defects are corrected prior to implementation. Translate complex business requirements into technical requirements and specifications, contributing to system architectural design and development. Assist in defining the business problem and the business solution in line with appropriate best practice, governance standards and methodologies. Work with development teams to understand and ensure requirements are met. Provide clarifications to the development and testing team as and when required. Creates test cases (realistic business situations) and performs functional testing to ensure business requirements are met. Facilitating UAT as well as supporting platform in executing the UAT.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in information systems, IT, Accounting, Finance, or related field of study; or any combination of relevant background, skills, and experience.
- PMP preferred.
- MBA preferred.
Experience:
- Technical Experience in business/financial planning and analysis processes with a working knowledge in accounting principles and issues. Experience in project management.
- Solid technical background, with understanding or hands-on experience in software development. background in business management, budgeting, and analysis. Educational background also preferred in the fields of computer science or engineering. Proven working experience as a project/program manager in the Finance and/or information technology sector. Proven experience in managing requirements gathering process. Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills.
- Practical experience testing of enterprise size financial applications is required. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication and planning skills. Able to multi-task, work independently and balance requests at peak workloads (or change gears quickly for important requests) from various departments and upper management.
