Job Description Summary
The Burn Care Specialist Nurse under the general supervision of the Burn Program Manager is responsible for assisting in burn wound care for all burn patients as an adjunct to the bedside burn nurse and the patient care tech. They will work as a team on a daily basis to create a daily wound care schedule. They will assist the nurse in the Surgical Trauma Burn Intensive Care Unit (STBICIU), 6W, and the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). They will provide the wound care to all patients who are on other units due to their medical condition or the unavailability of a bed in either the STBICU, 6W or the PICU.Entity

Job Description
Job Responsibility: Collaborates with other team members to coordinate wound care for all burn patients
- The Burn Care Specialist will assist in the care of all patients on the burn service as well as patients that the team has been consulted for.
- Collaborates with the team for organizing a daily wound care schedule for the burn patients. Collaborates with the team, nurses, & anesthesiologists on the schedule for the patients who will be going to hydrotherapy
- Collaborates with the nurse caring for the burn patient with daily wound care & dressing changes. Provide ongoing wound care education for nurses
- Participates in burn team meetings Completes other duties as necessary and assigned by the Program Manager
Job Responsibility: Communication with the multidisciplinary team, patient, and family
Attend AM rounds with the team for daily plan.
- Communicate/collaborate with the bedside nurses on a dressing change schedule
- Communicate with the provider team on wound appearance changes
- Communicate with the multidisciplinary team on ongoing status of the patient
- Communicate with the patient and the family on burn wounds and dressings
Additional Job Description
Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing and a minimum of three years related clinical nursing work experience required. Licensure a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or compact state required. Certification as a generalist in a related specialty area by the American Nurses Association (ANA) preferred. Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is requiredIf you like working with energetic enthusiastic individuals, you will enjoy your career with us!
