St. Ambrose University is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Building Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day management and operations of campus buildings. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, an in-depth understanding of building systems, and a commitment to maintaining a safe, efficient, and sustainable environment for students, faculty, and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and oversee building operations, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire safety systems.
- Supervise and coordinate facility maintenance, repair, and improvement projects.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to ensure the longevity and performance of campus buildings.
- Oversee a team of maintenance staff and contractors, providing training, guidance, and performance evaluations.
- Collaborate with university departments to ensure that building spaces are prepared for classes, events, and other functions.
- Monitor energy consumption and sustainability initiatives, identifying areas for improvement and implementing strategies for cost reduction.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, building codes, and university policies.
- Manage building-related budgets, including tracking expenditures and forecasting future needs.
- Act as a point of contact for building-related emergencies and coordinate response efforts as necessary.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of Associate's degree with 5 years of maintenance management experience, Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, or related field preferred, or a minimum of 10 years of full-time experience in management of skilled and entrance level employees. Previous experience in related area required.
- Strong knowledge of building systems, maintenance practices, and safety protocols.
- Experience with budgeting, scheduling, and managing maintenance teams.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in computer software related to building management and maintenance scheduling.
- Commitment to sustainability and energy-efficient practices.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in building systems management or related areas (e.g., LEED, Certified Facility Manager).
- Experience in a higher education or large institutional environment.
