Job Summary
:Provides carpentry and building maintenance for campus buildings, including interior spaces for all the campus buildings.
Responsibilities
:- Routine and preventive maintenance work orders for carpentry and maintenance services. purchases maintenance materials, supplies, and services in accordance with prescribed University and departmental purchasing goals and procedures.
- Constructs, installs, and repairs walls, partitions, ceiling and floor structures, including framing, drywall, finish carpentry, acoustical tile, doors and hardware. repair and install floor tile. install and repair carpet squares, cabinets, shelves, desk. Painting, touching up area and repaint offices, hallways, classroom on campus.
- Assists HVAC, Plumbing and Electrical Supervisor with preparation of carpentry related cost estimates for maintenance projects, and departmental remodeling projects. Provide on-call support for housing related issues, being on-call 1 week a month-rotation.
- Conducts building envelope, exterior window, and roofing systems condition assessments.
- Utilize the woodshop, metal shop, and incorporation with other entities that Facility Departments.
- Snow removal operations as required.
Required Skills
:- Ability to work on a team with varied skill and experience levels.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Possess strong organizational skills.
- Must be able to work both independently and as a member of a team.
Required Experience:
- 5+ years of residential and light commercial construction.
Required Education:
- High School diploma or equivalent.

:- Physical/Working Conditions: Work is performed in a variety of indoor and outdoor settings and may be exposed to cold, wet, hot or humid conditions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and talk or hear. Ability to lift, push and pull up to 25 pounds frequently and up to 75 pounds occasionally throughout shift.
- Complies with environmental health and safety requirements and procedures as outlined in University and State policies and directives.
- This position is considered essential personnel and must be available outside of normal work hours if needed to support contingency operations such as snow removal or support of special events.
- Summer maintenance work presents unique demands on the department and vacation opportunities are normally limited during Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends due to graduation and welcome week events. Also, vacations are normally limited beginning the first full week of August through Labor Day due to the wrap-up of summer projects and preparation for the start of the school year.
- This is a 40 hours per week, 12 months per year position.
- Required to be on call for one week a month.
