Broadcast Facilities Engineer at NESC Staffing

Position Summary/Primary Responsibilities:

 

The Broadcast Facilities Engineer is responsible for the technical operation, installation, and maintenance of all electronic equipment and for ensuring the safety, security, and maintenance of broadcast and other facilities. As a member of the Technology team and reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, the duties of the position require the ability to work independently and with a team to maintain radio and television broadcast studios and provide support for technical personnel and employees throughout the organization. This position ensures compliance with Maine Public policies and procedures, industry and FCC technical standards, safety standards, and FCC rules and regulations.

 

Essential Job Functions: Illustrative examples;not intended to be all-inclusive.

 

·        Maintains, designs, installs, and operates assigned broadcast and telecommunications facilities, studios, and physical plant in Bangor and other locations as needed and/or assigned.

·        Maintains and adjusts for the technical quality, reliability, and functionality of broadcast signals and ensuring compliance with Maine Public, FCC and applicable industry standards.

·        Runs routine and specialized electronic tests on equipment to insure proper operation.

·        Diagnoses and repairs equipment systems as required.

·        Designs and implements equipment and systems, using hands-on computer and networking skills.

·        Responsible for technical documentation of assigned facilities. Maintains up-to-date written procedures, helps train others as needed, presents and shares information.

·        Serves as liaison to third party vendors providing services and maintenance.

·        Responsible for equipment and spares inventory of assigned facilities.

·        Performs design, research and technical analysis and provides reports as needed.

·        Assists in developing budgets, bid requests and grant requests.

·        Works collaboratively with Technology team and others to complete projects and updates.

·        Travel throughout the State of Maine and to other Maine Public facilities is required.

·        Responsible for implementing safety improvements and following all safety standards.

Education/Experience/Training/Skills Required:

 

·        Five years’experience in professional grade broadcast engineering, studio maintenance, and broadcasting studio design required.

·        Four years’experience in electrical Engineering, or related field or equivalent combination of education and work experience required.

·        Comprehensive IT skills required.

·        In-depth knowledge of broadcast technology and procedures, production systems and studio equipment are required.

·        Ability to work independently in the design and implementation of complex computer systems required.

·        Excellent communication skills required.

·        Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all departments, employees, professional organizations, and vendors.

·        The ability to travel to remote sites via snowmobiles, ATV or walking required.

Certifications/Licenses/Registrations Required:

 

·        FCC General Class License or SBE Certification preferred.

·        A valid driver’s license is required.

·        On-call, evening, and weekend work is required as assigned.
