Title: Broadcast Engineer
Location: Onsite within the Mid-Atlantic Region
Description:
This role involves supporting and ensuring routine compliance for extensive media and broadcast systems within a fast-paced, live, 24/7 production environment. As a critical member of the Production Engineering team, you will collaborate across engineering and operational groups to support infrastructure, live production, and media technology systems. A strong enthusiasm for evolving broadcast and media technologies, including Media over IP and Cloud Computing, is essential.
Responsibilities:
Maintain and support infrastructure for live broadcast production systems.
Manage studio operations, including video processing systems, cameras, and video walls.
Oversee live control room production systems and related subsystems.
Support and troubleshoot systems such as routers, intercom, monitoring, KVM, and audio suites.
Provide technical support for off-site remote locations.
Monitor and resolve technical issues in a live, 24/7 production environment.
Perform maintenance and updates for subsystems, including hardware and software.
Create and maintain deployment benchmarks and documentation for operations.
Collaborate on advanced production systems and technologies.
Handle complex audio processing tasks, including Audio-over-IP setups and microphone audio optimization.
Set up and configure small audio networks.
Required Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer science, or equivalent experience.
5+ years of experience in broadcast production and live television environments.
In-depth knowledge of professional media standards for video and broadcast.
Strong technical skills in troubleshooting broadcast equipment.
Familiarity with traditional SDI and IP audio/video signal routing.
Knowledge of studio technologies, including video walls, cameras, image processing systems, and lighting.
Proficiency in production automation systems and newsroom workflows.
Competence with file-based workflows and media asset management systems.
Understanding of IT and networking theory and best practices.
Ability to interpret and work with technical documentation.
Flexibility to work various schedules, including overtime and holidays.
Capability to handle and replace equipment in technical racks.
Desired Skills:
Experience with production automation systems (e.g., Ross Overdrive) and newsroom workflows.
Familiarity with Media over IP standards for video, audio, and data.
Previous experience in live broadcast environments.

Pay range: $87.5k-$125k/year
