About the Job
Participate in structural engineering assignments under the direct supervision of a senior engineer
Evaluate bridges or other transportation facilities for needed repairs or replacement
Design and detail required work
Compute estimates of quantities and construction costs
Perform bridge load capacity analyses and prepare rating reports
Take part as a member of a field crew on structure inspection assignments
Take photos and measurements; produce sketches
Ability to clearly describe observations and convey information with sketches and technical writing
Operate personnel lift equipment, climb ladders, install traffic control devices and other work in support of inspection activities
Help in analyzing information and data to perform routine design tasks
Prepare environmental documentation and other administrative reports required for project permits
May be asked to participate in other engineering related activities such as CADD production, field data collection, construction inspection, materials testing and surveying
Keeps Project Manager informed of workload and any changes in project schedule or scope or additional services
May be asked to travel occasionally
Qualifications What you bring to our firm:
Bachelors degree in civil or structural engineering field from an ABET accredited school
Experience with Microsoft Office and AutoCAD/MicroStation
Team oriented engineer and strong communicator with ability to work concurrently within multiple project demands and transitioning priorities
Working knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.)
Able and willing to travel within the continental United States

The work environment will include a mixture of office and field work

The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, talk or hear, and drive a car
The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds

This compensation range is specific to the State Connecticut takes into account the wide range of fac ors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; internal peer equity; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs
The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled
At Gannett Fleming TranSystems, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case
A reasonable estimate of the current range is $70,000 - $95,000 annually
