Position Title: Breakfast Cook (Part-Time) Location: International High School Student Dormitory in Derby, Connecticut Schedule: 5:00 AM - 9:00 AM, 3 weekdays per week (12 hours per week) - Summer 2024 & Full-Year Available Job Description: APEX International Education Partners is seeking a reliable and skilled Breakfast Cook to join our team at our international high school student dormitory located in Derby, Connecticut. The Breakfast Cook will be responsible for preparing and serving breakfast for students three (3) weekdays per week. This position requires creativity, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently and independently in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities: 1. Prepare and cook delicious and nutritious breakfast items according to specified recipes and standards.
2. Ensure that all food is appropriately displayed and visually appealing. 3. Coordinate with the current Head Chef & Management to ensure all necessary ingredients and supplies are available for each shift. 4. Execute breakfast combo options as outlined, including but not limited to breakfast sandwiches, pancakes, home fries, fruit displays, parfaits, croissants, cookies, biscuits, sausage/gravy, and hard-boiled eggs. 5. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and cafeteria display areas, including washing dishware, taking out trash, and sanitizing surfaces. 6. Ensure proper food handling and storage procedures are followed at all times to maintain food safety standards. 7. Set up and maintain beverage stations, including filling juice dispensers and brewing coffee. 8. Monitor inventory levels and communicate any shortages or needs to management. Assist in ordering inventory as needed. 9. Adhere to health and safety regulations and guidelines at all times.
Qualifications: 1. 3-5 years' experience working as a chef or cook in a professional kitchen environment.
2. Previous experience working in a school/dormitory cafeteria setting cooking for high school students preferred.
3. Knowledge of food preparation techniques and sanitation standards.
4. Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately.
5. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
6. Ability to work independently with limited instruction and supervision.
7. Flexibility to work early morning shifts and adapt to changing priorities.
8. ServSafe certification required. Additional Food Handler's
license/certificate/card/training a plus.
9. High School Graduate/GED required. Culinary/Technical School preferred.
10. Ability to operate kitchen equipment.
11. Ability to lift/unload food and supplies (30+lbs).
12. Ability to stand most of the work shift.
