We’re looking for an advertising agency communication planner or a brand strategist / planner that is interested in making the move to communication planning/has a passion for communication planning.

Start = December

Long term 2+ years contract

The Brand Strategist position is a contractor role responsible for campaign communication plans within our client’s strategy and research team, working closely with in-house agency and brand marketing teams.

Ideally, our client would like this person to work a hybrid schedule in their San Antonio, TX office but they are also willing to consider completely remote candidates working CST hours.

Primary Function:

We are seeking a Brand Strategist / Planner with advertising agency or in-house agency experience and a proven ability to lead complex communication plans/ecosystems/matrices, engage teams, and drive results independently.

The brand strategist / planner will translate the vision of existing creative briefs into actionable plans, expertly mapping how the brand’s story unfolds across channels, ensuring that every message reaches the consumer at critical moments.  

This role requires the ability to use data to craft communication plans that guide consumers from awareness to conversion. Must have experience converting marketing strategy, business and channel goals into communication channel ecosystems for 360 advertising campaigns (including digital, paid social, owned social, national TV, email, direct mail, etc.), while guiding and maintaining the existing brand standards/guidelines.

• Cross Channel Expert: You know how to optimize the use of different channels – whether digital, social, print, or broadcast – based on where the consumer is in their journey.  

• Data Driven Connector:  You thrive on consumer data, insights, and platform dynamics, using it to inform decisions on messaging, timing, and channel selection within existing media buys 

• Results-Oriented Executor: Your focus is on delivering tangible outcomes that align with measurable objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Consumer Journey Mapping 

• Comprehensive Message Ecosystem Development and Delivery by Audience

• Collaboration with Account Planning, Creative, and Media

• Campaign Measurement and Reporting for Optimizations and Recommendations

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree required, specifically in advertising, communications, or marketing

• 2+ years of related communication planning or account planning experience required, with deep understanding of the consumer journey and a solid track record developing and leading cross-channel messaging strategies. 

• Proven ability to translate high-level creative strategy into detailed, actionable communication plans that align with various stages of the consumer lifecycle.  

• Strong understanding of audience segmentation, consumer behavior, and journey mapping

• Excellent collaboration skills working closely with brand planners, creative teams, and media teams to deliver cohesive campaigns.  

• Data driven mindset with proficiency in analytics tools 

• Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple campaigns and touchpoints simultaneously.

• An expert in audience segmentation, consumer behavior analysis, and data driven strategy development

• Expert in digital, social, broadcast, email and print media channels and how they can be leveraged throughout the consumer journey

• Experience working in an advertising agency or in-house agency required

The target hiring compensation range for this role is $38 – $41/hr an hour. Compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to education, relevant work experience, relevant certifications, and location.
