POSITION SUMMARY
The Brand Manager position is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-growing, family-owned company that is a leader in the small appliances industry. The candidate will play a vital role in the development and implementation of global product innovation and go-to-market commercialization on one of BISSELL’s fastest growing and strategically important businesses. The Brand Manager will be a leader in the Stick Vacuum Category and will work closely with other functions to develop, launch, and commercialize new products. They will drive consumer insights work used to shape the future innovation roadmap for the category. This role will experience the thrill of taking products from idea all the way through launching in markets around the world, owning everything from success criteria, claims, and products specs to channel management strategy and P&L Management. This position requires experience in product development for consumer products, and a BA/BS in marketing or related field of study. Candidates must demonstrate proven experience with product development and innovation stage-gates, as well as leadership of cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities:
Position Profile
- Identifies and defines consumer needs for all development programs with the partnership of marketing research department. Champions the voice of the consumer on all projects.
- Develop, implement, execute and manage new product launches and maintain existing product lines.
- Lead for category innovation projects. Represents the voice of marketing, sales, and consumer services to R&D, finance, manufacturing and the related GPD teams.
- In conjunction with category Senior Brand Manager and sales, develops line objectives and channel management and distribution strategies. Work with key accounts to develop and improve BISSELL product line in-store productivity, gross profit and assist in maximizing customer satisfaction.
- Develop a 3yr innovation pipeline for the category in partnership with the category Senior Brand Manager and cross functional team.
- Ensures Global consumer insights and regional feedback are a driving force in our innovation plan. Keeps regional teams up to date and excited for the future via frequent communications.
- Analyzes, tracks and measures sales and share data to identify insights to drive business performance.
- Monitors competitive strategic and tactical activities. Develops appropriate strategies and/or new launches.
- Ability to communicate effectively with top management, project team members, manufacturing units, and all other Associates. Strong executive presence to communicate clear category vision to executive team.
- Works closely with other team members of the product business unit team and other support groups to meet timelines and budget objectives.
- Is available for marketing and sales projects as needed.
- Understand and be held accountable for all the category’s goals (including profitability). Develop and execute tactical initiatives and implement strategy to meet or exceed these goals.
- Assist in the Annual Plan and Update development process. Support media and promotion planning process. Support Budget process for category.
- May be required to perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION
- Degree minimum: Bachelor’s degree
- Specific concentration: Marketing or Business
- Experience level: 6-8 years in consumer products
- Proven experience with consumer program development, line extension development and sales
- Experience leading cross-functional teams
- Strong analytical skills with ability to visualize data to understand trends and tell stories
- Experience developing and presenting business cases to leadership
