Position Overview: We are looking for an experienced Distribution Center Manager with a proven track record of success in facility start-up and lean operations management. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our new distribution center, from planning and implementation to day-to-day operations and continuous improvement initiatives. This role requires strong leadership skills, strategic thinking, and a passion for excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the start-up and launch of our new distribution center in Mississauga, Ontario, including facility setup, staffing, equipment procurement, and process implementation.
- Develop and implement strategic plans and operational strategies to optimize efficiency, productivity, and customer service.
- Hire, train, and supervise a team of warehouse staff, including supervisors, team leads, and material handlers.
- Establish and maintain effective workflows, processes, and systems to ensure accurate and timely order fulfillment and inventory management.
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement and lean principles throughout the organization, identifying opportunities for waste reduction and process optimization.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to track performance, identify trends, and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including transportation, procurement, customer service, and IT, to streamline operations and improve overall supply chain efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards, promoting a culture of safety awareness and accountability.
- Develop and manage the distribution center budget, controlling costs and maximizing profitability while delivering high-quality service to customers.
- Foster a positive work environment, promote teamwork and employee engagement, and recognize and reward outstanding performance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in distribution center management, with a track record of successful facility start-up and lean operations implementation.
- Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve goals and objectives.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on data-driven decision-making.
- Solid understanding of warehouse operations, inventory control, and distribution logistics.
- Experience with lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
- Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) and other logistics software tools.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities.
- Knowledge of Canadian transportation and distribution regulations is preferred.
