This leadership role requires extensive knowledge of industrial diesel generators, particularly those from brands such as Cummins, CAT, Kohler, Generac, and similar manufacturers. The General Manager will be responsible for driving business growth, ensuring operational efficiency, and maintaining high standards of customer satisfaction across the division.
- Strategic Leadership:
- Develop and execute the division’s strategic plan, focusing on growth in sales, service excellence, and market penetration.
- Oversee the management of all aspects of the business, including sales, service, operations, and finance.
- Identify new business opportunities and develop strategies to expand the company’s market share in the industrial diesel power generation sector.
- Operational Management:
- Ensure efficient and effective day-to-day operations, including inventory management, supply chain coordination, and service delivery.
- Implement and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure operational success and identify areas for improvement.
- Maintain compliance with industry regulations and standards, ensuring all activities meet safety, environmental, and quality guidelines.
- Sales & Business Development:
- Lead the sales team in identifying and pursuing opportunities for selling diesel generators and related services, focusing on products from Cummins, CAT, Kohler, Generac, and similar brands.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key customers, suppliers, and industry partners to drive business growth.
- Set sales targets and monitor performance, providing guidance and support to achieve or exceed objectives.
- Customer Service Excellence:
- Ensure the highest level of customer satisfaction by maintaining strong relationships and delivering reliable, high-quality products and services.
- Oversee the service department, ensuring timely and efficient maintenance, repair, and support for all generator systems.
- Resolve escalated customer issues and implement solutions to prevent future occurrences.
- Financial Management:
- Manage the division’s budget, including cost control, revenue generation, and profitability.
- Analyze financial reports and performance metrics to make informed business decisions.
- Work with the finance department to ensure accurate and timely billing, reporting, and financial planning.
- Team Leadership & Development:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team across sales, service, and operations.
- Foster a positive and productive work environment, encouraging teamwork, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure ongoing training and professional development for all employees, keeping the team up-to-date with industry trends and advancements.
- Market & Industry Analysis:
- Stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and advancements in power generation technology.
- Analyze competitor activities and customer needs to adjust strategies and maintain a competitive edge.
- Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and conferences to enhance the company’s visibility and reputation.
- Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field is preferred; MBA or advanced degree is a plus.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in the power generation industry, with a strong focus on industrial diesel generators.
- Proven leadership experience, preferably in a management role overseeing sales, service, and operations.
- Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of industrial diesel generators, especially from brands such as Cummins, CAT, Kohler, Generac, and similar manufacturers.
- Strong strategic planning and business development skills, with a track record of driving growth.
- Excellent leadership and team management abilities, with a focus on mentoring and development.
- Financial acumen, with experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to handle complex situations effectively.
- Licenses & Certifications:
- Relevant industry certifications are a plus (e.g., EGSA, ASE).
- Valid driver’s license.
- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to travel as needed to customer sites, industry events, and company locations.
- Comfortable working in industrial environments where generators and heavy equipment are in use.
