About the Job
Incumbent is responsible for managing and overseeing day to day branch operations and for adhering to the Credit Union’s policies and procedures. Also, to provide coaching, training, sales initiatives, and motivation to staff to achieve corporate goals. The Branch Manager is also expected to build a rapport in the local community to attract new business and offer excellent member service.
Branch Manager Qualifications: An Associate or bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, or related field and a minimum of two (2) years of management in a credit union/financial institution work environment; (or) five (5) years of consecutive management experience in a financial institution or related field. Three (3) years of sales, lending, and mortgage experience preferred. Must possess a valid driver’s license with an acceptable three (3) year driving records preferred.
Essential Elements of the Job:
Management/Branch Responsibilities:
- Strong knowledge of Credit Union policies and procedures, enforcing and continuing education on new policies, procedures, products and systems.
- Ensure good communication between employees and management by reinforcing chain of authority, fostering an environment of fair treatment, addressing conflicts promptly, promoting teamwork and discouraging negative comments about members or co-workers.
- Network with local businesses/realtors to build new relationships and attend community events for CU exposure.
- Conduct the following management duties with insight and approval from your Area Branch Manager: branch audits, interviewing process and staff selection steps, employee disciplinary action process, employee performance issues, conflict management, staff performance appraisals, scheduling, delegation of job duties and communicating individual goals and focus areas to staff.
- Monitor employee time off, attendance points, incentives and compliance training requirements.
- Monitor ATM machine monthly, making sure machine is ADA compliant and in good repair.
- Monitor supplies and equipment for functionality.
- Monitor exterior landscape and interior and log any security, maintenance, or safety issues on Facility Spreadsheet and communicate with Facilities Manager to get them resolved.
Member Services:
- Providing accurate information in a timely manner to members.
- Able to handle Estate, Trust, Representative Payee, POA, Business Accounts and Deceased Account transactions.
- Able to manage and process new accounts, mortgage and consumer loans, IRA’s, and all service requirements for members.
Security of Branch:
- Ensure proper security is followed by staff, which includes but not limited to, opening, and closing procedures, night drop procedures, safe deposit box procedures, updating bait money list and keeping employee key/alarm code log current.
- Provide quality member service by ensuring confidentiality of member information and following established guidelines.
- Ensure maintenance issues are logged on the Facilities Spreadsheet.
- Ensure cash is secured and counted every day in accordance with policies and procedures.
Sales/Productivity of Branch:
- Maintain staff training and product knowledge with input from the Training Department.
- Communicate cross-selling and monthly goal expectations and monitor monthly progress.
- Ensure branch goals and corporate goals are achieved through continued monitoring, education and training.
- Review monthly reports as required to monitor branch activity, teller volume, teller errors, loan volume, individual sales and indirect/recapture lists.
- Encourage staff to submit efficiency ideas for continued improvement with processes and procedures.
- Monitor cash management and limit waste with supplies, utilities and work times.
Additional Job Requirements:
- Able to provide and participate in special projects.
- Actively participate in community events.
- Actively participate in seminars, continuing education, training sessions and workshops.
- Ability to maintain Federal NMLS# and process mortgage loans.
- Other administrative duties as assigned.
- Must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills for future job advancement.
Branch Manager Skills and Work Relations:
Incumbent must demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills and effectively handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Must possess strong organizational, leadership and problem solving skills. Must possess basic knowledge of Credit Union policies and procedures. Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Incumbent must possess good judgement, attention to detail, initiative, independent thinking, professionalism in always dealing with internal and external contacts and confidentially.
