Job DescriptionPurpose: The GIS & Engineering Services Specialist is responsible for maintaining operational readiness while solving departmental and interdepartmental problems with systems, data, integrations, and workflows specific to engineering and operations. Technologies include ArcGIS Enterprise, OMS, and Engineering Analysis.
Essential Functions:
- Solution Development
- Deploy ArcGIS Enterprise web service tools and applications.
- Create and maintain web delivery tools using ArcGIS Enterprise (Portal).
- Design new, and improve existing, GIS solutions in collaboration with GIS stakeholders.
- System and Data Maintenance
- Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot engineering and operations software critical to field assets managed by Engineering Services.
- Implement and resolve issues with hardware and software technologies supported by Engineering Services.
- Post changes to the GIS electric and fiber models, including maintaining assembly units, switchgear modeling, substation modeling, phasing of assets, geographic accuracy, and splicing within the fiber model.
- Maintain accurate and updated base map data, including parcel data and aerial photography for counties served.
- Provide data and coordinate with contractors for work on behalf of Boone REMC.
- Interdepartmental Stakeholder Support
- Assist in system planning and operational studies by providing updated electric distribution system models for engineering analyses.
- Update mapping records to maintain Indiana One-Call Utility Location Systems and IURC territory maps.
Qualifications
- (a) High school degree with 10 years of experience; (b) AA/Technical Degree and 5 years of experience; (c) BA/BS Degree and 1 years of experience; or (d) Advanced Degree and 1 year of experience.
- 4-year degree in spatial information systems or related degree.
- Ability to successfully manage multiple projects concurrently.
- Ability to communicate effectively with non-technical users.
- Requires attention to detail and a desire to solve a wide variety of problems.
- Ability to manage a project from inception to completion while coordinating with all included parties.
The successful candidate will report to the VP of Engineering Services.
