About the Job
Ledgent is partnering with a valued client in the Portland area to find a skilled and detail-oriented Bookkeeper. This individual will play a key role in managing essential accounting functions, including processing invoices, assisting with payroll, and preparing financial statements. The ideal candidate will possess a strong knowledge of accounting principles and exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to handle day-to-day accounting operations in a smaller company environment. This is an on-site position offering a competitive hourly rate of up to $36/hour.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately prepare and process invoices and payments, ensuring timely disbursement
- Reconcile bank statements and credit card transactions to maintain financial integrity
- Assist with payroll processing, ensuring employees are compensated accurately and on time
- Handle employee expenses and reimbursements, ensuring compliance with company policies
- Collaborate with the team to identify opportunities for financial improvements
- Support external audits and the year-end close process
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a bookkeeper or in a similar accounting role, preferably within a smaller company setting
- Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and practices
- Proficiency with QuickBooks and Excel
- Knowledge of payroll processing and tax regulations
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively within a team
