Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Full-Charge Bookkeeper to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in the construction industry and be proficient in all aspects of bookkeeping, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger, and financial reporting. This position reports directly to the President and plays a critical role in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with all accounting standards and regulations.
Responsibilities:
1. Manage all aspects of accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including processing invoices, issuing payments, and reconciling accounts. You will have a team of biller focused on invoicing, so you can focus on AP & the remaining accounting tasks.
2. Process payroll for employees, including calculating hours, preparing payroll checks, and ensuring compliance with tax regulations.
3. Maintain accurate and up-to-date general ledger entries, including recording expenses, revenues, and other financial transactions.
4. Prepare monthly financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
5. Reconcile bank accounts and credit card statements to ensure accuracy and identify discrepancies.
6. Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes to support financial planning and decision-making.
7. Coordinate with project managers and other team members to track project costs and ensure accurate job costing.
8. Prepare and file quarterly and annual tax returns, including sales tax, payroll tax, and income tax filings.
9. Assist with year-end financial audits and provide documentation and support as needed.
10. Stay informed about changes in accounting regulations and standards and ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
Qualifications:
1. Accounting degree preferred but equivalent experience is also acceptable.
2. Minimum of 7 years of experience in full-charge bookkeeping, preferably in the construction industry.
3. Proficiency in accounting software, such as QuickBooks, Sage, or similar programs.
4. Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices, including GAAP.
5. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial reporting.
6. Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
7. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members at all levels.
8. Knowledge of construction accounting principles, including job costing and progress billing, is a plus.
