We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Full Charge Bookkeeper to manage our financial processes and ensure accuracy and compliance in all aspects of our accounting operations.
Position Overview:
The Full Charge Bookkeeper will play a crucial role in our financial operations, overseeing all aspects of accounting, including month-end close, financial statement preparation, accounts payable (AP), and accounts receivable (AR). The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction accounting, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Month-End Close:
Oversee the entire month-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate completion.
Reconcile all balance sheet accounts, including bank accounts, credit cards, and other general ledger accounts.
Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, prepaids, and adjusting entries.
Financial Statement Preparation:
Prepare monthly financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
Provide financial reports and insights to management to support decision-making.
Accounts Payable (AP):
Manage the full cycle of accounts payable, including invoice processing, coding, and payment.
Ensure timely and accurate payment of vendors and subcontractors, resolving any discrepancies or issues.
Maintain accurate and organized records of all AP transactions.
Accounts Receivable (AR):
Oversee the accounts receivable process, including invoicing clients, tracking payments, and following up on overdue accounts.
Reconcile AR accounts and prepare aging reports for management review.
Work closely with project managers to ensure accurate billing and collections.
Construction-Specific Accounting:
Manage job costing and project accounting, ensuring accurate allocation of expenses to projects.
Track and report on construction contracts, change orders, and project budgets.
Ensure compliance with construction industry regulations and best practices.
Other Duties:
Maintain and update the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and completeness of all financial records.
Assist with year-end close and preparation of financial statements for auditors.
Collaborate with other departments to support overall business operations and financial goals.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
Minimum of 3-5 years of bookkeeping experience in the construction industry.
Proficiency in construction accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage 300 CRE, or similar).
Strong understanding of construction job costing, WIP reporting, and project accounting.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with team members.
