Job Description:
We are currently seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles and practices, along with hands-on experience in bookkeeping and financial record-keeping. As a Bookkeeper, you will be responsible for accurately recording financial transactions, reconciling accounts, and producing financial reports for our clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain Accurate Financial Records: Record day-to-day financial transactions, including purchases, sales, receipts, and payments, in accordance with established accounting principles and procedures.
- Accounts Payable and Receivable: Process invoices, track payments, and manage accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, ensuring timely and accurate payments and collections.
- Bank and Credit Card Reconciliations: Reconcile bank statements and credit card statements on a monthly basis, identifying and resolving discrepancies as needed.
- General Ledger Maintenance: Update and maintain the general ledger by posting journal entries, adjusting entries, and ensuring proper coding and classification of transactions.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and distribute monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, for review by management and clients.
- Payroll Processing: Assist with payroll processing tasks, including calculating employee hours, preparing payroll checks, and remitting payroll taxes and withholdings.
- Tax Preparation Support: Provide support to tax preparers by organizing and maintaining financial records, preparing supporting documentation, and assisting with tax filings as needed.
- Financial Analysis: Assist in analyzing financial data and preparing financial analysis reports to support decision-making and planning processes.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, regulations, and tax laws, and assist in preparing documentation for audits and reviews.
- Client Communication: Communicate regularly with clients to address inquiries, provide financial updates, and ensure client satisfaction with bookkeeping services.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
- Proven experience (2-3 years) in bookkeeping, accounting, or a related financial role, preferably in a professional services environment.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, or Sage) and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices, including GAAP.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial record-keeping.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and interact professionally with clients.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion with sensitive financial information.
