The Position: The Bookkeeper maintains records of financial transactions by establishing accounts; posting transactions.
Responsibilities:• Balances and maintains accounts by verifying, allocating, posting transactions and reconciling entries
• Prepares financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends
• Track and file statements from vendors, receipt and processing of invoices, and payments sent.
• Manage the resolution of all liens, ensuring they are addressed and cured in a timely manner, and obtain lien releases upon full payment.
• Maintains good resident relations and the ability to respond to resident concerns to avoid escalation of the problem
• Produces monthly reports for Property Manager and/or Regional Manager
• Collects rents and make daily deposits and reconciliations monthly
• Calls residents and guarantor to collect past due rent
• Enforces rent collection policy
• Maintains historical records by filing documents
• Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying requirements; enforcing adherence to requirements; filing reports; advising management on needed actions
Education & Experience:
• Knowledge of basic fundamental accounting concepts, such as debits and credits, journal entries, and the general ledger
• Skilled in analyzing information & developing standards
• Skilled in related software such as Yardi
• Skilled in Data Entry
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
• Ability to critically evaluate financial information and provide recommendations for improvements or corrective actions
• High school diploma or equivalent
• One year of related multi-family property management experience
• A current, valid Driver License is required
Physical Requirements:
- May be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time
- Must be able to read documents, computer screens and data
- Must be able to hear and understand verbal communications in person and over the phone or computer
- May occasionally be required to lift or carry items such as files or office supplies weighing up to 15 pounds
- Must be able to operate a computer, keyboard, mouse and other office equipment
Work Environment:
- This is an onsite role working at one of our properties or corporate office five days a week.
- The office is an open setting which may include bright lights, constant noises and distractions
