Join the team as a Bookkeeper with Retina Associates of Cleveland, the leading retina care provider with a portfolio of medical practices across multiple locations. With $190 million in annual revenue, we are a dynamic and growing organization dedicated to providing exceptional patient care while maintaining sound financial operations.
This is a full-time position reporting to the Chief Financial Officer within the Finance Department.
Responsibilities:
- Accounts Payable: Manage timely and accurate posting of accounts payable, including vendor invoices, plastic, and virtual credit card programs. Responsible for cash disbursements, reporting, and annual IRS 1099 filings.
- Cash-Based Accounting: Perform cash-basis accounting tasks in support of the Controller, including recording cash receipts and disbursements, maintaining cash logs, and ensuring proper transaction categorization. Complete journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations as needed. Serve as backup to the Controller.
- Transaction Management: Process and reconcile daily transactions, including vendor invoices. Assist in developing and enforcing internal controls to safeguard company assets.
- Bank Reconciliations: Conduct bank reconciliations in the absence of the Controller, ensuring accurate cash balances.
- Taxation: Maintain records and process periodic payments for Ohio CAT Tax, Sales and Use Tax, and other related tax obligations.
- Documentation & Record Keeping: Ensure accurate and complete financial records, providing documentation for audits and tax purposes.
- Compliance: Maintain adherence to internal policies, healthcare regulations, and accounting standards.
- Support: Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and audit processes. Collaborate with the finance team to improve and streamline accounting procedures.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a bookkeeper or in a similar accounting role, preferably within the healthcare industry.
- Strong understanding of cash-basis accounting principles and practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial reporting tools.
- Experience with medical practice accounting software (NetSuite preferred, but not required).
- Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and accuracy.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of basic payroll processes is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience in a large healthcare or medical practice setting is a plus.
Work Environment:
This role is based in an office environment within the Finance Department. Occasional travel between office locations may be required.
