Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Bookkeeper/Accounting Manager to oversee the financial operations of our company. This role is responsible for recording transactions, managing accounts payable/receivable, and preparing monthly financial statements, including the income statement and balance sheet. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Transaction Recording:
- Accurately record all financial transactions, including daily income, expenses, and journal entries in the general ledger.
- Reconcile bank and credit card statements on a regular basis to ensure accuracy of financial records.
- Accounts Payable Management:
- Review and process invoices for payment.
- Ensure timely payment of bills, managing relationships with vendors and ensuring proper documentation.
- Monitor and maintain accounts payable aging reports.
- Monthly Financial Statements:
- Prepare monthly income statement, balance sheet, and other financial reports.
- Ensure financial records are accurate, complete, and comply with accounting standards.
- Analyze financial data to identify trends and variances and provide recommendations to senior management.
- Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Assist with the preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts.
- Monitor and track budget performance, identifying discrepancies or potential issues.
- Payroll Management:
- Oversee payroll processing, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time.
- Ensure proper tax filings and compliance with payroll regulations.
- Tax Compliance and Reporting:
- Prepare information necessary, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Collaborate with external accountants or auditors during year-end processes.
- Financial Analysis and Reporting:
- Generate and analyze financial reports for management review, highlighting key financial metrics and trends.
- Provide insights and recommendations based on financial data to support decision-making.
- Internal Controls:
- Develop and implement effective internal controls to safeguard the company’s financial assets.
- Maintain organized and accurate financial records and documentation.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience (3+ years) in bookkeeping or accounting, preferably with some experience in an accounting role.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
- Proficiency in accounting software QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with preparing financial statements and managing accounts payable/receivable.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
Work Environment: This position typically works in an office environment with standard business hours, with the flexibility during month-end and year-end reporting periods. We anticipate the role is 20-28 hours per week.
