Key Responsibilities:
Vehicle Inspection and Damage Assessment:
- Conduct thorough inspections of vehicles to identify and assess damage.
- Document and communicate findings to the appropriate parties, including customers and insurance companies.
- Provide accurate estimates for repairs, considering parts, labor, and other necessary resources.
Repair and Restoration:
- Perform a wide range of body repairs, including dent removal, panel replacement, and refinishing.
- Utilize industry-standard tools, equipment, and techniques to ensure high-quality repairs.
- Follow repair manuals, specifications, and safety guidelines to maintain consistent standards.
- Address structural damage, frame alignment, and other structural issues as needed.
Painting and Refinishing:
- Prepare surfaces for painting, including sanding, priming, and masking.
- Mix and match paint colors to achieve accurate matches with existing vehicle finishes.
- Apply paint using various methods, such as spraying, brushing, or rolling.
- Ensure proper curing and finishing of paintwork to achieve a seamless and durable result.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate with the service advisors and other team members to ensure efficient workflow and timely repairs.
- Communicate effectively with customers, providing updates on repair progress and addressing any concerns.
- Coordinate with parts department to order necessary parts and materials for repairs.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, including parts used, labor hours, and any additional notes.
Quality Assurance and Safety:
- Conduct thorough quality checks to ensure repairs meet industry standards and customer expectations.
- Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest automotive repair techniques and industry advancements.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certification or vocational training is preferred.
- Proven experience as an automotive body technician, with expertise in collision repair and refinishing.
- Strong knowledge of automotive repair techniques, materials, and tools.
- Proficient in using body shop equipment and tools, such as welders, sanders, and paint guns.
- Ability to read and interpret repair manuals, specifications, and technical documents.
- Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects and perform physical tasks associated with the job.
