SUMMARY:
The Music Therapist is responsible for providing clinical and evidence-based music therapy
interventions to accomplish students' individualized goals within a therapeutic setting.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The duties and responsibilities of the HR Coordinator will include, but are not limited to the
following:
• Provide Music therapy interventions that address a variety of healthcare & educational
goals, promote wellness, manage stress, alleviate pain, express feelings, enhance memory,
improve communication, etc.
• Collaborates with classroom and therapy staff to provide goal-directed instruction in a group
music lesson.
• Ensures that services are provided to students with the utmost regard for their personal
dignity, privacy, and confidentiality.
• Follows established music therapy schedule.
• Maintains a clean, safe, and organized workspace
• Practices Universal Precautions at all times.
• Attends required staff meetings.
• Participates in activities of professional development with school staff.
• Performs other related duties as requested by the program director.
QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty

• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
• Proficiency in the use of personal computer and appropriate software
• Good interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with coworkers, individuals
served, employees, parents and outside contacts.
• Ability and willingness to travel to various program sites.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
• Bachelor's Degree (or higher) from an American Music Therapy Association (AMTA)
Bachelor's approved college or university.
• A minimum of 2 years providing music therapy to students with special needs.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:
• Board Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC)
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, write, speak and understand English. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret
reports and documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries, concerns or complaints from
employees and customers. Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical
situations. Basic understanding of statistics.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to
interpret an extensive variety of instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete
variables. Ability to resolve conflicts and mediate stressful situations.
