Training: Biotech Boot Camp
Location: University of Rhode Island, Kingston, RI (in-person, hands-on training)
Training Provider: URI Pharmacy Development Institute / SkillsRI
Program Starts: July 8th, 2024
Schedule: Monday Friday; 9am 5pm, 2 weeks in duration

Intro to Biotech, Developing Lab Skills, PPE, Lab Safety, Biohazardous Waste Management, Gowning, Characterization Lab Tour with Equipment Demo, Documentation, Electronic Batch Records, Weight Determinations, Volumes, Concentration, Ideal/Non-Ideal, Mass %, Volume %, Pipetting, Handling Macromolecules/Size Comparison, Solution Prep/Batch Record, Serial Dilution, Mixing, pH and Buffers, Filtration, Soft Skills, Behaviors, Soft Skills, Equipment Lab Tour, Intro to Laminar Flow, Aseptic Runs, Using a Microscope, Cell Morphology, Bioreactors, Connections, Welding, Sealing, Case Study/Examples of Process Control, Instrumentation, Data, Collection/Interpretation, Aseptic Run, Cleaning and Sanitization, Sterilization and more!
Ideal candidate:
- Rhode Island Resident
- Unemployed or Underemployed
- Must be at least 18 years old at the start of the program.
- High School Graduate or equivalent
- Intermediate Math Skills
- Desire to return to work in a new & exciting career pathway.
- Ability to commit to 2 weeks of in-person training in Kingston, RI (transportation not provided)
- Able to pass pre-employment industry-standard Drug and Background Checks
