Biomedical Engineer Associate I - Merz North America, Inc

Entry-level role that provides a Biomedical Engineering and Medical Manufacturing experience. This role will work within the Engineering and Manufacturing departments and will include both Engineering project work and hands-on manufacturing. This role is designed to provide experience in medical manufacturing with engineering projects that directly support these bioprocesses. This role is expected to prepare the employee with the tools to transition to various engineering, quality, or manufacturing roles within the company.

Key Responsibility:

Manufacturing:

• Operate equipment related to filler manufacturing and processing in a cleanroom environment, including but not limited to mixing, filling, sealing, and sterilization.
• Labeling and packaging.
• Preparing samples for Quality analysis.
• Perform Equipment and facility cleaning and sanitization.
• Perform general calibration assistance and utilize calibrated instruments/equipment during processing.
• Device History Record Documentation in accordance with current Good Manufacturing and Good Documentation Practices (cGMP,cGDP, etc).

Engineering:

• Implement process improvements within the Merz Quality Management System.
• Participate in engineering project teams on process scale-up, improvements, cost reductions, and process designs.
• Participate in engineering project teams on R&D design transfer activities.
• Support CAPA and NCR investigations as requested.
  

Support Change Control Activities:

• Originate and review changes to procedures, drawings, and specifications through the Document Change process.

Training Support:

• When certified by Dept Training Coordinator, provide training for approved operations.

Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities:

• Intermediate math skills with an ability to calculate with percentages and decimals. Required 
• Ability to understand and interpret both written and oral communication in English. Required
• Good interpersonal skills with the ability to work within the department and the rest of the company effectively. Preferred
• Computer skills including those associated with the word processing, spread sheet programs, databases and statistical analysis. Preferred
• Ability to prepare testing protocols and reports, operating documents and procedures. Preferred
• Ability to work with little or no supervision and make effective decisions. Preferred

Education:

• Bachelor’s Degree. Required 
• BS in Engineering. Preferred

Experience:

• Experience in medical device or chemical processing. Preferred
• Experience working in a Cleanroom environment. Preferred

Must be able to pass vision testing requirements (with or without corrective eyewear).
