Position Summary | The Department of Biology at the University of New Mexico invites applications for two full time, 9-month appointments at the rank of Lecturer (II or III) to begin January 1, 2025. The successful candidates will teach introductory and intermediate courses required in our undergraduate curriculum and may have other teaching opportunities depending on the needs of the Department. Duties will also include supervising lab preparatory staff and graduate-student teaching assistants in the companion lab courses. Lecturers are non-tenure track faculty with annual reviews of performance and three promotion tiers. Workload is determined by the Chair of the Department of Biology and policies of the University of New Mexico. UNM is the premier research university in New Mexico, and is a Carnegie Highest Research Activity Institution and a federally designated Hispanic Serving Institution. New Mexico is a majority minority state and UNMs student population is among the most diverse in the country. Qualifications | Minimum Qualifications: 1. Masters or PhD in Biology or related field completed by start date of hire (January 1, 2024) Preferred Qualifications: 1. Strong record of teaching undergraduate level classes in genetics and cell biology or ecology, evolution and physiology as evidenced by CV, teaching materials, and letters of reference. |
