OVERVIEW

In this role, you'll be engaged in planning and analyzing various experimental data to validate diagnostic tests in oncology, and will analyze data from NGS and qRT-PCR gene expression, DNA methylation, and other datasets related to biomarker discovery, assay validation, and clinical study analysis. You'll also assist in developing appropriate study protocols, communicate relevant information to colleagues, and participate constructively in decision-making processes that impact the performance of the final product. This position offers a base range of $112,026 - $140,032 DOE, excellent fully employer-paid healthcare benefits, and progressive career growth.
Immediate opening for a Bioinformatics Scientist in Orange County who possesses:
- Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Biology, Chemistry or similar
- 2-4 years of industry experience
- Expertise with Python, Matlab, R, and SQL
- Previous experience with next-generation sequence alignment tools, sequencing quality scores and their interpretation, preferably in a diagnostics development environment.
- Experience with current bioinformatics tools supporting NGS applications (RNASeq, qPCR, methylSeq, mutational analysis, SNP discovery).
- Previous experience with managed code and source control concepts.
- Prior experience developing and maintaining analysis pipelines.
- *preferred* any experience in clinical diagnostics
- *preferred* any experience in cancer research or diagnostics

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Designing and analyzing analytical validation studies for Real-Time PCR and NGS-based diagnostics assays for cancer.
- Provide statistical and computational tools for biologically based activities such as genetic analysis, measurement of gene expression, and gene function determination.
- Participate in the evaluation and creation of new methods and statistical procedures under the direction of the Product Development Management.
- Prepare technical reports, summaries, protocols and quantitative analyses that accurately and clearly communicate necessary information per Design Control.
- Assists in the transfer of formatted data and data analysis algorithms to cross-functional teams in preparation for product launches including Operations, Information Technology, Manufacturing, Marketing etc.
- Apply bioinformatic and statistical concepts/ models, to solve moderate to complex problems in creative and effective ways.
- Develop new software applications or customize existing applications to meet specific scientific project needs.
- Follow SDLC when developing software applications
- Develop software or applications for scientific or technical use.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on study design, planning, data preparation, programming, analysis, and presentation of results.
- Create novel computational approaches and analytical tools as required by research and development goals.
- Consult with researchers to analyze problems, recommend technology-based solutions, or determine computational strategies.
- Elaborate detailed protocols to validate research hypotheses and confirm product compliance with predefined expected performances.
