CFS has partnered with a growing mental health company that's looking to hire a Billing Supervisor. Their mission is to promote and provide mental health, intellectual/developmental disability, and substance use disorder resources that empower people to succeed. This company is located in Michigan and this position can be remote, however this Billing Supervisor needs to live within Michigan. Billing Supervisor Responsibilities:
- Responsible to supervise all phases of accurate billing of primary, secondary, and tertiary claims to Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial, Work Comp, Automotive, and all others, within insurance timely filing limits. Includes billing initial claims, corrected claims, and canceled claims using electronic and paper submission.
- Responsible to supervise the complete credentialing process for healthcare professionals, including contracted physicians, Nurse Practitioners, contracted Professional Staff, and other relevant providers to ensure compliance with the administrative expectations of MDHHS and the PIHP to minimize organizational risk and ensure contractual compliance of company and contract providers in specified areas.
- Responsible to supervise the billing of clients based on the CCBHC sliding fee scale, MDHHS Ability to Pay guidelines, and the No Surprise Billing Act.
- Assists staff to resolve denied claims identified on Remittance Advices and in billing software. Works the accounts receivable aging weekly to resolve/rebill denied claims within timely filing requirements.
- Understands and ensures staff follow all federal, state, and local payer-billing requirements. Performs review of staff billing to ensure compliance.
- Supervises the Electronic Posting Insurance Remittance Advices within company's billing system and coordinates with accounting to ensure reconciliation with collections.
- Coordinates with the Information System department to implement and monitor the electronic health record, related to billing and encounter reporting for services provided.
- Develop, organize, and provide training on ATP, technical billing requirements, and client insurance plans and timespans in KARE.
- Coordinates with the Client Access Specialist Supervisor to ensure front end client access specialist practices support billing and collecting requirements to optimize reimbursement and reporting.
- Implements policies and procedures related to billing and reimbursement of services provided.
- Provides supervision for assigned staff including hiring, training, monitoring, evaluating, and disciplining.
- This position will be knowledgeable about and actively support 1) culturally competent, recovery-based practices, 2) person centered planning as a shared decision making process with the individual, who defines his or her own life goals and is assisted in developing a unique path toward those goals and 3) a trauma informed culture to aid consumers in their recovery process.
Billing Supervisor Education/Requirements:
- High School Diploma with 5 years’ experience in Behavioral/HealthCare billing to Third party Liability.
- Or associate degree in healthcare administration, Business Administration, or related field; with 2 years’ experience in Behavioral/Healthcare billing 1500 HCFA/UB04 to Third Party Liability.
- Or A Certified Professional Biller (CPB) from American Academy of Professional coders (AAPC) with 2 years’ experience in Behavioral/HealthCare billing 1500 HCFA/UB04 to Third Party Liability.
- Ability to work independently and conduct research to resolve billing issues.
- Experience with PCE - EMR software (plus)
- Supervisory experience strongly preferred.
- Sound oral and written communication skills.
- Working knowledge of Federal, State, and local regulations governing areas of responsibility.
- Working knowledge of the Michigan Mental Health Code and Medicaid Manual.
- Proficient computer skills, including Excel, word processing, electronic health record systems, database management and e-mail.
- Knowledge of HIPAA, Uniform billing, CPT codes, ICD-10, DSM and other State and Federal regulations
- Excellent communications, interpersonal and human relation skills.
- Lived experiences with behavioral health issues are desired.
