The Delivery Enablement (DE) team supports internal stakeholders by providing a robust operational backbone across TAS, TES, OCFO, PI, IM, IB and TRS. The team includes Talent Acquisition, Human Resources, Marketing, Data Analytics, Accounting & Finance and Delivery Excellence. As Portage Point continues to grow, the DE team is laser focused on scalability, quality and automation.
The Billing Specialist at Portage Point represents a unique opportunity for a highly motivated professional to assume a wide range of responsibilities to make a significant impact in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment. The Associate, Accounting will own all billing, collection, and accounts payable processes and play a vital role directly impacting the financial success of the firm. The Bill Specialist will report directly to the Controller and ensure smooth and efficient processes are implemented and optimized, they should be prepared to work within a small, collaborate team environment to manage discrete work streams.
Responsibilities- Own the billing process, which includes overseeing and administering all invoicing responsibilities and ensuring all invoices are generated
- Proactively track outstanding client accounts and ensure timely collections of receivables
- Coordinate with engagement leaders to minimize exposure and address delays in payment while maintaining strong client relationships
- Partner with engagement leaders to optimize billing processes and develop strategies for maximizing revenue
- Partner with Data Analytics to automate invoicing process and eliminate manual routine tasks
- Address complex and custom billing requests, balancing client needs with firm objectives
- Administer key systems including engagement set up and new team member onboarding tasks
- Support internal accounting workstreams including accounts payable, payroll, expense reimbursements
- Manage compliance with time & expense standard operating procedures
- Share and manage best practices as well as lead internal trainings where required
- Contribute to creating a high-performing and inclusive culture
- Bachelor's degree from a top undergraduate program
- Located in or willing to relocate to Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles or New York
- Invested in a team-based culture motivated to collaborate in office four days per week
- Two plus years of billing experience, ideally within a professional services or law firm setting
- Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in billing and compliance with firm policies
- Strong organizational skills with ability to multitask, prioritize and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Committed to providing top-tier service and delivering high-quality work with a desire to utilize new technologies to develop automations and continuously improve the billing function
- Ability to successfully work in a small, collaborative team environment
- High degree of maturity with a proven ability to interact with senior executives, private equity sponsors, lenders, lawyers, middle managers and line workers
- Effectively communicates analysis through Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint including high-quality messaging, structure and formatting
- Eagerness to be responsive at all times
- Proven track-record of success in high pressure, time-constrained environments
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills including strong e-mail etiquette
- Top-tier organizational skills and attention to detail

$80,000 - $90,000 a year
The City of New York and the State of California require Portage Point to provide compensation information for this role. This range represents the anticipated minimum and maximum base plus bonus for this position based upon a good faith and reasonable estimate. The final compensation for this position will be set based on the applicant's qualifications (education, training and / or experience related to this role), and therefore, may fall outside the range shown, depending on the circumstances.
