About the Job
We have an exciting opportunity for a Billing and Receivables Management Specialist I (Receivables Focused) to join our team!
The Billing and Receivables Management Specialist I performs a wide variety of tasks which allow residential, commercial and industrial customer accounts to bill timely and accurately. This position assesses and completes tasks to improve collections on outstanding receivables and reduce net write off. The Billing and Receivables Management Specialist I will adjust customer budget amounts, apply, adjust and remove deposits, correct autopay errors and transfer accounts receivable balances while ensuring transfers are done within the same business unit. This position will correct certain billing exceptions which prevent a customer account from billing. The Billing and Receivables Management Specialist I will research customer refund requests and submit refunds when appropriate. The Billing and Receivables Management Specialist I will review residential customer submitted documentation to determine if they meet creditworthiness as defined by the Indiana Administrative Code. This position researches customer payments that remain unposted due to incomplete or invalid information and transfers the payment to the appropriate customer. The Billing and Receivables Management Specialist I will review and manually post EFT (Electronic Funds Transfer) payments from JP Morgan to appropriate customer accounts.

Minimum Hourly Wage: $20.10 (Grade 4)
- Research and complete tasks created by the Customer Information System or a Contact Center employee to correct conditions preventing a customer account from billing.
- Research and complete tasks created by the Customer Information System or by a Contact Center employee to transfer receivables, refund balances, transfer payments, correct budget amounts, apply or adjust deposits.
- Reviews, analyzes and processes misapplied and unposted customer payments.
- Completes various reports in order to improve cash flow and reduce bad debt expense.
- Conducts employee training and development.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Graduation from High School or equivalent.
- Proficiency in operation of a personal computer.
- Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to transition from task to task with little oversight.
Preferred Skills/Qualifications
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Knowledge of the IURC Administrative code for gas, water, and wastewater.
- Knowledge of CEG’s Terms and Conditions for Citizens Gas, Citizens Water, Citizens Wastewater Authority, Westfield Gas, Westfield Water, Westfield Wastewater, Steam and Chilled Water.
- Knowledge of CEG’s Customer Information System.
