Baltimore, MD 21244
About the Job
What is this job?
You help get vulnerable children at the United States’ southern border OUT of influx shelters and placed instead with a child and family-focused, not-for-profit organization that can provide appropriate housing, medical, mental health, and educational services to that young person.
Do I get a sign-on bonus?
Yes! BCC is offering you a $1,000 sign-on bonus if you can provide full-time (40 hours/week) availability. This is paid over your first 10 bi-monthly paychecks. This offer expires July 21st so apply today!
What is the Caminos program?
You would be helping children who have recently migrated to the United States and are seeking opportunities for reunification with family as well as the chance to pursue their education and legal immigration cases. BCC calls this our Caminos program, and we see it as a fulfillment of our purpose as a non-profit: to enrich communities, one family at a time.
What is this company? Board of who?
Board of Child Care (BCC) is not a federal or state agency. It is an independent not-for-profit organization that serves over 1,000 children annually across 12 locations. You would join about 800 teammates across DC, MD, PA, and WV that empower youth and their families to flourish within their community.
Why would I want to do this job?
- Your work will be connected to a greater purpose. Just a few days ago some of the kids you could be helping were sitting in a border holding cell. Be inspired that when you see news stories about immigration or the US southern border, YOU know you are directly helping to make a difference for those kids.
- You can work at a company that does not gloss over the national conversation about equality. BCC does not expect to continue ‘business as usual.’ The Chauvin trial and many other recent events have sparked deep, reflective conversations amongst our teams. (You can see our response to the Chauvin trial and read about our organization’s EDI journey to date)
- You can develop your skills. Don’t feel stuck at your job. All full-time staff at BCC gets at least 20 hours of paid training a year. BCC will pay you to get certifications you can use over the rest of your career. We will also pay up to $5,000 a year towards your tuition if you are still in school (lots of our staff are).
- You can grow professionally. Over 100 people were promoted at BCC last year alone! There are so many examples of childcare workers moving into unit supervisors, case managers, or other leadership positions! One of our Executive Directors started at BCC 20+ years ago as a childcare worker! Click Apply to speak to one of BCC’s recruiters. Ask them what this culture feels like in practice at BCC
- You can feel supported with great benefits. Health (mental and physical coverage), dental, and vision coverage? Check, check and check.
- You can actually take a vacation. Everyone at BCC starts earning paid vacation at the rate of three weeks per year (you earn more the longer you stay). Throw in several paid federal and two floating holidays (your choice) and you probably don’t have an excuse anymore to not visit your in-laws.
- You can stop sweating the little things. Parking? It’s free. Coffee? It’s free. Lunch? Free. Seriously we have awesome benefits. Apply now and we’ll send you more info!
- You can feel confident that your teammates take COVID and safety seriously. Daily health screenings use paid sick leave during quarantine, surgical or KN95 masks (your choice) provided every day, and the list goes on. The vaccine is not required (but encouraged) to work here. Will pay you for up to 1 hour of time to get the vaccine.
*The benefits above are available to all full-time employees. Part-time or on-call staff are welcome and needed at BCC, however, they may not be eligible for all benefits (our recruitment team can help clarify this for job applicants).

During the winter months, you will cherish watching their faces as they play in the snow for the first time. It is truly awesome.

- Finish any laundry and cleaning tasks to get ready for the next day.
