Job Title: Bilingual Paralegal/Litigation Secretary
Location: Remote (Must reside in California)
Salary: $62,400 - $83,200 DOE
A fully remote law firm is seeking an experienced Paralegal/Litigation Secretary to join their team. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of litigation experience, strong organizational skills, and fluency in Spanish (written and verbal) for client communications. This role requires familiarity with state and federal court filings, the ability to manage multiple active cases with minimal supervision, and strong knowledge of court rules.
Key Requirements:
- Solid Experience Handling Core Paralegal Tasks: Must be able to independently manage key tasks such as court filings, managing deadlines (calendaring), and handling discovery (both sending and responding to legal documents).
- Litigation Experience: Candidates must meet minimum requirements for handling state and federal court filings and be familiar with class actions and PAGA cases.
- Experience in Complex Litigation: Must be comfortable working with little supervision and handling complex litigation matters, including class action and PAGA cases.
- Paralegal Certification Preferred
Additional Key Qualifications:
- Must reside in California - candidates outside of CA will not be contacted.
- Minimum of 2 years of litigation experience (Labor & Employment preferred but not required).
- Fluent in Spanish (written and verbal) - top pay for bilingual candidates.
- Proficiency in filing with state and federal courts (experience with LA Superior Court and class actions preferred).
- Strong calendaring skills, including managing deadlines without the aid of software.
- Experience with discovery, including Bates-labeling and propounding.
Key Responsibilities:
- Filing and e-filing with state and federal courts using PACER and NextGen.
- Managing court deadlines and rules, entering dates into Google Calendar.
- Handling discovery tasks such as preparing and propounding documents.
- Communicating regularly with clients in Spanish, court clerks, and opposing counsel.
- Managing multiple active cases for attorneys (2 associates, 1 lead attorney).
Work Environment:
- Fully remote with equipment provided (laptop, monitor; printer available if needed).
- Flexible work hours: 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM (occasional early or late meetings).
- Regular virtual meetings and check-ins to ensure collaboration and work-life balance.
