We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Permanent EHS (Environment, Health, and Safety) Specialist to join our team. This role will be an integral part of our engineering department, ensuring that our operations and processes meet or exceed regulatory and company EHS standards. The successful candidate will have a strong background in manufacturing and a proven track record in managing EHS programs. Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain effective systems, procedures, and training to achieve an accident-free and healthy work environment.
- Implement EHS policies and procedures to be followed in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations.
- Conduct risk assessments and enforce preventative measures.
- Review existing policies and measures and update according to legislation.
- Initiate and organize EHS training of employees and executives.
- Inspect equipment and machinery to observe possible unsafe conditions.
- Investigate accidents or incidents to discover causes and handle worker’s compensation claims.
- Recommend solutions to issues, improvement opportunities, or new prevention measures.
- Report on EHS awareness, issues, and statistics.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Industrial Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in EHS management in a manufacturing environment.
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other pertinent regulations.
- Strong understanding of EHS concepts, principles, and practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact at all levels of the organization.
- Demonstrated ability to identify hazards and implement appropriate corrective actions.
- Proficient in MS Office; Working knowledge of EHS Management Systems.
- Ability to plan, implement, and manage projects.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to make sound decisions in emergency situations.
- High level of attention to detail and the ability to prioritize tasks.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
