The Bid Writer is responsible for providing high quality writing expertise and support for Maximus UK bid and proposal opportunities, enabling us to win work and grow our business.
This will involve working proactively with wider Business Development and business colleagues to develop a clear understanding of our bidding strategy and ensuring that approach is translated into a clear and winning bid response.
The Bid Writer should have a passion for writing that results in proposals being articulated in a compelling way that supports us to win new business.
1.Own all or parts of a written tender response, as defined within the bidding approach. Responsible for working with colleagues in the solution development team to understand and input into our solution proposals as they evolve and develop written responses that reflect these discussions. Draft responses that fully respond to or exceed commissioner questions/requirements, developed in line with tender review/submission deadlines.
2. Collaborate with Business Development colleagues (e.g. Bid Director, Bid Manager, other Bid Writers, Solution Architect, etc.) and wider business colleagues (e.g. operational, IT, MI, etc.) to ensure both a comprehensive understanding of the offer being developed and that it is effectively articulated within written responses. Take on board and incorporate feedback provided by bid reviewers.
3. Proofreading of work and materials created by other team members, providing constructive feedback that ensures the highest standard of bid submission.
4. Support opportunity capture by contributing to research and data gathering from both internal and external sources, aimed at building our pipeline and strengthening bid responses. This may be conducted in line with a specific bidding opportunity, or to support the ongoing development of our Bid Library in the UK or internationally.
5. Engage with continuous improvement activities, such as capturing and contributing to lessons learned and bid submission reviews.
6. Ensure all relevant systems and reporting tools are kept up to date and accurate as required
ESSENTIAL •Strong, demonstrable track record of writing content for winning bids (at least 2 years' experience)
•Experience of working in a busy bid writing environment, under pressure with the ability to manage multiple stakeholder needs and demands on time
•Compelling writing skills, complete with a high standard of spelling and grammar
•Able to manage competing deadlines and priorities confidently
•Ability to interpret and tailor writing styles to a range of audiences from different sectors and commissioning organisations
•Experience of generating new ideas as part of a bid writing or solution development team
•Experience of collating and consolidating opportunity related research to support in the localisation and personalisation of business cases / proposals
•Strong IT skills including the use of Word, Excel and Outlook
•Experience of working to both internal and external deadlines
•High level of accuracy and attention to detail required with ability to work quickly, diligently and efficiently
•Editing, proof-reading and report formatting skills
•Good interpersonal skills, able to build strong relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders
