The Business Intelligence (BI) Developer: works collaboratively with end users to develop reporting systems that provide accessible information for decision making.
The Business Intelligence (BI) Developer: works collaboratively with end users to develop reporting systems that provide accessible information for decision making.
- uses warehouse data to solve organizational problems through reports, analysis and data visualization.
- will provide enterprise-wide data warehouse expertise with emphasis on data design, access, usage, security and quality of information assets.
- will work in support of managers and users requiring data for decision support.
Responsibilities
-Translate business needs to technical specifications
-Develop and execute database queries and conduct analysis
-Design, build and deploy BI solutions using Microsoft’s BI Stack of tools
-Create visualizations and reports for requested projects
-Conduct unit testing and troubleshooting
-Collaborate with various teams to integrate systems
-Evaluate and improve existing BI solutions
-Develop and update technical documentation
-Cross-train and collaborate with other team members
Requirements and skills Proven experience as a BI Developer or Data Scientist
Background in data warehouse design and related concepts
Dimensional Modeling
Dimensional Modeling
- -Star vs. Snowflake schemas
- -ETL (Extract, transform, load) framework
- -Normalization vs. Denormalization differences
- -Slowly changing dimension concepts
- -Familiarity with MDX, DAX, and online analytical processing (OLAP) concepts
- -Familiarity with Microsoft’s BI technologies or (BI stack)
- SQL Server Database concepts: Tables, Views, Functions, SProcs, etc…
- -SSMS – SQL Server Management Studio
- -Visual Studio, in relation to all BI stack tools:
- Accounting and/or Financial Concepts: Revenue, Cost, Billing, Gross Profit, Job Cost Accounting, etc…
- -Experience working with HCM’s [Human Capital Management], like Dayforce or ADP
- -Any experience working with these 3rd Party cloud solutions: Salesforce, ServiceNow, Dynamics 365
- -Extensive experience in using Transact SQL (T-SQL). Reading/Writing data using this language.
- -Plus proven abilities to take initiative and be innovative
- -Analytical mind with a problem-solving aptitude
