Benefit/Payroll Coordinator-Human Resources - St. Josephs Medical Center

POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for bi-weekly payroll processing and reconciliation activities for 1,000 plus employees. Assists with year-end, testing, and other payroll processing and system related projects as required. Handles garnishment and child support processing. Administering employee benefits programs including health insurance, retirement, wellness program, leave plans. They will be responsible for communication and assisting new hires and staff.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- HR/Payroll technical, multi-state payroll processing, and analytical experience
- Prior experience working with Lawson payroll system and API timekeeping system
- CPP certification preferred
- Assist with employee benefits orientation and enrollment process
- Coordinate benefit paperwork and check for completeness and accuracy
- Upload employee information into various databases and updates as necessary
- Audit invoices for accuracy
- Liaise with benefits vendors on issues
- Assist with collecting and analyzing benefit program data
- Assisting staff with benefits-related matters, Gather and evaluate data on various HR functions related to employee turnover, absenteeism, and benefits costs
- Responsible for working through FMLA, ADA, USERRA and Worker's Compensation leave situations collaboratively with HR and Operations, with a good understanding of the employer responsibilities under each
- Ensuring that the firm's benefits policy is compliant with the set laws and regulations
- Handles day to day claim, coverage, and eligibility issues with staff, and family members for health and welfare plans: medical, dental, vision, life insurance, long-term disability, long-term care, voluntary accidental death & dismemberment, and supplemental insurance plans
- Provide professional telephone coverage for the department and acts as a liaison between benefits team and internal/external clients
- Maintain LOA health plan enrollment file including receipt & documentation of payments, processing enrollments & terminations, communication of changes to finance as needed, and distribution of invoices to participants.
- Assist with preparation and distribution of annual filings and required notices
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
- HR/Payroll technical, benefits, multi-state payroll processing, and analytical experience
- Good computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel
- Detail orientated with good organizational and communication skills

- 3-5 years of HR experience required focused in Benefits and Payroll
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred
- High School Diploma or GED required
