About the Job
EAC Network seeks a Bilingual (English/Spanish) Behavioral Health Specialist for the Family First Prevention Services Program, located in Suffolk County, NY. The position is part time, up to 28 hours a week with possible weekends.
Primary Purpose of Job:
The Behavioral Health Specialist will work alongside CPS and preventive services caseworkers to identify and support the behavioral health needs of both the adults and children where substance abuse is an issue.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
Become knowledgeable about the CPS process and requirements
Accompany CPS and preventive caseworkers in the filed to visit with identified families using a screening tool and/or provide direct consultation with CPS/preventive caseworkers regarding families who might benefit from substance abuse screening
Carry a caseload and conduct home visits to assess and monitor home environment
Conduct screening for adults and/or children for early identification of substance abuse treatment needs
Assist in the development, implementation, and monitoring of the plan of safe care for any infant born and identified as being affected by substance abuse or withdrawal symptoms or a Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder.
Provide clinical assessments and documentation to support the CPS process.
Use knowledge of resources within the local district to provide referrals for identified children and/or adults who may need ongoing services
Conduct drug screenings as necessary
Maintain and document all communications of home visits in case notes.
Participate in ongoing trainings
Attend Quarterly Comprehensive Case Reviews to share information with Suffolk Safe Care Supervisor and CPS.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required:
Masters degree (social work, counseling, psychology) or a Bachelors degree in the same fields AND a CASAC.
Knowledge of the department of Social Services System Required
Bilingual (English/Spanish) required.
Must be proficient in computer applications or other automated systems such as spreadsheets, Microsoft Office applications, calendar, email and/or database software necessary to perform work assignments.
Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.
Must have access to automobile and possess valid New York State drivers license.
