SUMMARY: Coordinates the assignment of inpatient admissions, discharges and transfers throughout the System; works in collaboration with miscellaneous hospital resources in the facilitation of continuous throughput of patients from all points of entry (Emergency Department [ED], Post Anesthesia Care Unit [PACU], direct admissions, etc.).
DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: NOTE: The following are the duties performed by employees in this classification, however, employees may perform other related duties at an equivalent level. Not all duties listed are necessarily performed by each individual in the classification.
1. Assigns all patients from PACU, ED, elective admissions and in-house transfers as required.
2. Consults with the SATC team and leadership, and Off-Shift Administrators on complex admissions.
3. Contacts Environmental Services to prepare beds/rooms/facilities for occupancy.
4. Continuously monitors patient flow and placement, bed availability and keeps concerned parties informed of ongoing status (clinical staff, admissions, EVS, etc.) Documents and reports on timeliness of patient placement activities and concerns related to throughput to SATC leadership.
5. Documents bed activity to assist in the compilation of appropriate censuses and reports.
6. Identifies issues which affect patient movement and bed placement decisions and resolve or escalate as necessary.
7. Performs other duties as assigned.
8. Records bed-movement information for use in volume analysis and patient care division budgeting.
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Education: High School diploma or equivalent..
Required Experience: Three years related experience within a hospital environment.
PreferredExperience: Experience utilizing established software system (Epic, etc.).
PreferredLicenses/Certifications: Valid license to practice as a Licensed Vocational Nurse in the state of California; Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association.
