Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Battery Systems Engineer to join our team, focusing on the development and optimization of advanced battery technologies for zero-emission mining equipment and infrastructure. This role offers a unique opportunity to work on the cutting-edge of battery systems integration and hydrogen battery products in a highly dynamic and innovative environment. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with both internal teams and external partners, working on high voltage systems that operate in extreme temperatures (-50C to 50C).
As a Battery Systems Engineer, you will play a key role in optimizing Battery Management Systems (Client), designing and upgrading battery systems, and ensuring performance and safety standards for next-generation equipment. You will also contribute to cost reduction initiatives and enhance the lifecycle of battery systems.
Responsibilities:
- Battery Management System (Client): Maintain and optimize Client developed by suppliers, ensuring the systems perform at optimal efficiency.
- Battery System Design and Integration: Collaborate with the electronics, design, and drive systems teams to design and develop new battery systems and technologies.
- Testing and Analysis: Conduct performance and safety tests on battery systems, analyze test data, and prepare technical reports for internal teams and stakeholders.
- Field Support: Modify and upgrade battery systems for trucks operating in harsh environments, ensuring reliability and safety.
- Manufacturing Support: Work with production teams to ensure manufacturing processes are efficient, high quality, and in alignment with battery system requirements.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with design, production, and quality assurance teams to deliver optimized and robust battery solutions for mining equipment.
- Compliance and Standards: Ensure all battery systems meet industry standards and regulations while maintaining safety protocols.
- Research and Development: Stay abreast of industry advancements in battery technology and integrate these innovations into new product designs.
- Cost Reduction: Drive cost reduction initiatives through thoughtful design improvements and process optimizations.
- Continual Learning: Stay updated on technical advancements through workshops, publications, and professional networks.
Essential Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven experience with electric drive systems, specifically OEM battery drive systems.
- Expertise in integrating battery systems, ensuring compatibility with other components.
- Proficiency in software tools such as Matlab, Simulink, and Creo.
- Solid understanding of cooling systems in battery development and thermal management.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in the automotive, construction, or agricultural industries.
- A minimum of two to three years of tenure with a previous company, showing steady career growth.

- Experience with the thermal side of battery development and management.
- Ability to take ownership of complex tasks and contribute effectively to team goals.
- Proven track record in a development role: Year one involves learning, year two involves execution, and year three involves delivering tangible results.
