Position Description
The Battalion Chief is a key leadership role within the Tolleson Fire Department, responsible for overseeing and managing the operations of assigned fire stations and personnel during assigned shifts. The position ensures effective response to fire, medical, and other emergencies while supervising and mentoring fire department staff. The Battalion Chief is also tasked with implementing department policies, maintaining operational readiness, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of progressively responsible experience related to area of assignment, of which 2 years include supervisory or lead experience; or an equivalent combination of directly related education and experience. Candidates without a bachelor's degree must demonstrate the ability to obtain one within 12 months of start date. The ideal candidate for the position will possess over five (5) years of professional firefighting experience and over three (3) years of supervisory experience, consistently demonstrating strong leadership skills through effective team management, decision-making under pressure, and fostering a culture of collaboration and accountability. All candidates must have current certifications as a Firefighter II, EMT or Paramedic, and National Incident Management System (NIMS) certification for levels 100, 200, 300, 400, 700, and 800 preferred. Valid Arizona Driver's License required.

Job Information
Closing Date: Monday, December 16, 2024 Hiring Salary: $136,894.59 Annually
Salary for Internal Promotion (Refer to Section 7.3 of the Employee Handbook).
